Programmes and fees
What is the difference between a programme, a certification and a qualification?
MSDI offers three tiers. Programs are short, focused skills courses that run from one day to a few weeks. Professional certifications add formal assessment and are built for working professionals stepping up. Qualifications are formal awards at MQF Levels 4 to 7, with RPEL entry available for experienced candidates. Every programme page states its tier, duration, delivery format and fee in RM.
How do I enrol in a programme?
Browse the catalogue, pick an intake and register your interest on the programme page or through the contact form. Admissions confirms entry requirements, reserves your seat and shares payment steps within one working day. Online enrolment with payment is rolling out and will appear on programme pages when live.
When do intakes start, and can I switch to a later intake?
Most programmes run several intakes a year; dates and enrolment deadlines are listed on each programme page. You can request a transfer to a later intake before your cohort begins, subject to seat availability. Full intakes keep a waitlist and seats are offered in order.
RPEL
What is RPEL and who is it for?
Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) converts what you have learned at work into academic recognition, assessed against the MQF. It is built for experienced professionals who can do the job but lack the paper qualifications, granting programme entry or academic credit.
What is the difference between APEL A and APEL C?
APEL A grants access: admission into an accredited qualification based on age and relevant experience, with a minimum age of 21 for MSDI applicants. APEL C grants credit: specific modules are credited when you evidence the learning, which shortens study time and lowers cost.
How long does an RPEL assessment take?
The online eligibility check gives an indicative answer in about two minutes. A full assessment, from portfolio submission to outcome, typically takes 4 to 8 weeks depending on the volume of evidence and any interviews or challenge tests required.
Is a credential earned through RPEL worth less than one earned by coursework?
No. The award is identical and carries the same recognition. Your credential does not distinguish between RPEL credit and coursework credit, and it verifies on the same public verification page.
HRD Corp claims
Are MSDI programmes HRD Corp claimable?
Most MSDI programmes are claimable under SBL-Khas. Look for the HRD Corp claimable badge on the programme page, which also shows the course code where one is assigned. If you are unsure, contact us and we will confirm claimability before you commit.
Does MSDI handle the claim paperwork?
Yes, end to end for corporate cohorts. We prepare the grant application before training begins and supply attendance records, assessment evidence and invoices in claim-ready format afterwards, so your HR team is not chasing documents.
Can individuals claim from HRD Corp?
No. Only employers registered with HRD Corp can claim against their levy, so speak to your HR or L&D team about sponsorship. Self-funded learners may still be eligible for personal income tax relief on course fees, subject to current LHDN rules.
Credentials and verification
How and when is my credential issued?
Credentials are issued digitally with a unique code and QR verification, normally within seven working days of completing all requirements and settling fees. Printed copies can be arranged on request.
How can an employer verify my credential?
Anyone can scan the QR code on the credential or enter its code on the public verification page at msdi/verify. The page confirms the holder, the award and its status in seconds, with no account or phone call needed.
Do credentials expire?
Awards for programmes and qualifications do not expire. Some professional certifications follow industry renewal cycles; where renewal applies, the requirement is stated on the programme page and reflected in the credential status.
Payments and refunds
What payment methods do you accept, and is SST included?
Admissions issues an official invoice with FPX, card and bank transfer options; corporate enrolments can be invoiced on agreed terms. All fees are quoted in RM and listed prices include SST where applicable.
Can I get a refund if I withdraw?
Yes, within the rules of the refund policy. You receive a full refund if you cancel within the cooling-off period and before your intake starts; after commencement, refunds are pro-rated against how much of the programme has been delivered. HRD Corp-funded places follow grant rules, with settlement to the employer rather than the individual.
